Mountain K2:the highest mountain peak in India


Mountain K2 is located on the Pakistan-Chinese border is the highest peak in India and is the second highest peak in the world.The name K2 was given in 1852 by British surveyor T.G Montgomerie with "K" designating the Karakoram Range and "2" since it was the 2nd peak listed. During his survey, Montgomerie, standing on mt. Haramukh 125 miles to the south, noted the two prominent peaks in the north and calling them as mount K1 and K2. It was firstly named as mount Godwin Austen earlier but it was never recognized as its name.

 Mt. K2 has different names in different places such as Kechu,in Balti.Qogir in Chinese.It is also called the "Savage Mountain" because of it's severe weather.It is always been climbed in June,July&August.but it is never ever been climbed in the winter season.
